Waste Reduction Tips

TIP #1:
Reduce the amount of stuff you buy;
reuse when you can,
and recycle or compost the rest.

TIP #2

Check out this 20-minute video called “The Story of Stuff” when you have a chance. It’s all about our obsession with stuff--where it comes from and where it goes!  If you have more time, Annie also wrote a book.

TIP #3

Double-side copy and use old sheets as scratch paper for notes.

Minimize paper use by distributing info electronically.

TIP #4

Buy recycled content products.  Look for signs like these.

Check out this crafty youtube video project on how to crochet clothes and products out of old plastic bags!

TIP #5

Reuse notebooks, folders, hanging file folders, cardboard, pasteboard, plastic bottles, plastic bags, etc.  There are many resources online for inspiration!

TIP #6

Use a reusable coffee mug or cup instead of disposables.  350 million pounds of coffee cups end up in landfills every year!
